Myo Exercises - Lesson 3

Spots in after breakfast and in the afternoon. Remember to dry the roof of your mouth first

 

Exercises are to be completed once a day

Tongue Exercises

Lip licks

-          Mouth open, finger on chin

-          Lip your upper lip from left to right – keep jaw still

-          Repeat 3x15 reps

 

Tongue Poke

-          Mouth open, finger on chin

-          Poke your tongue out straight to form a tip

-          Repeat 3x10reps

 

Stick Taco Holds

-          Place a paddle pop stick on your tongue

-          Curl the sides of your tongue to hold it in place for 15 seconds

-          Repeat x 3

-          If too easy – tape a coin at the end of the stick to increase the weight

 

Lip Exercises

Button Pulls

-          Get out the button with the string

-          Place button in front of your teeth and cover with closed lips

-          Pull forward and hold for 15secs, pull left and hold for 15secs, pull right and hold for 15 seconds

-          Repeat x3

 

Breathing Exercises

Blow Pipe

-          Place the ball in the pipe

-          Blow out for 12 seconds you can whilst ensuring the ball does not fly away

-          Repeat x 3

 

Posture Exercises

Tight Rope Walking

-          Tongue on resting position

-          One eye closed - Walk in a straight line with one foot in front of the other for 30 steps

-          Repeat with the other eye closed

-          Repeat x2 sets of each eye closed

 

Swallowing Exercises

Straw Drink

-          Place straw against your front teeth

-          Tip of tongue in resting position

-          Back teeth apart

-          Purse your lips and suck the water through the straw x 3 swallows

-          Repeat x3

Slurp Swallow

-          Back teeth gently together

-          Tongue tip on the roof and smile showing your teeth

-          Gently slurp your saliva

-          Repeat x10 reps

Chewing Exercise (whilst snacking)

Crocodile Chews

-          Place crackers between back teeth on each side

-          Bit down on both sides and chew for 15-20 bites like a crocodile

-          Repeat x 3
